Starting from 5th August VAT484 forms cannot be used for VAT registration updates. Agents will use online account for VAT registration details.
Clients will need to make changes to their bank details and email addresses using their VAT online account as agents are not allowed to submit these changes.
VAT registration requirements are:
1. If the annual turnover exceeds £90,000
2. If the sellers are based outside UK and their sales exceed certain thresholds.
3. If clients expect their sales to exceed the threshold in the next 30 days.
4. If the client takeover a VAT registered business.
5. Incase of VAT exempt sales if specific conditions are met.
6. Voluntary registration can be made to reclaim VAT on business expenses.
It is crucial for clients to initiate the process of applying for VAT registration at the earliest opportunity due to the considerable duration it can take, typically ranging from six to eight weeks.
